Latest update! Open Heart Surgery.

So obviously since the last post some things have changed in accordance with my moms “condition”.

Very positive changes.

 

This time last week I was grieving the potential loss of my mother.

This week I am rejoicing in the miracle that God has performed on her.

After being admitted into the hospital for pneumonia, then finding out it was NOT an pneumonia at all that it was serious heart complications, they told us that her arteries were VERY blocked and VERY small…much too small to operate on. They did not fail to mention that her heart was very weak and in terrible shape [a major portion of her heart looked to have been dead], that she may not be a candidate for surgery and that our only other reasonable option could be a transplant, which we would never be suitable for since she did not have health insurance and it’s an extremely expensive procedure (they also made sure that we were well aware of that, oh ye of little faith).

Yes, you could say I was grieving.

In 7 days (ironic, eh?) the Lord allowed her heart to strengthen and her spirits to lift. With each passing day after they had told us the devastating results, she continued to look better and better, and feel stronger and healthier. Friday they did an MRI and surgery was a GO! Today she is in recovery after a TRIPLE bypass and mitral valve repair.

God is good…and no one will ever convince me that it was anything less than God. I saw His power with my own eyes. He restored her, He is healing her and He is amazing.  She will continue to be in recovery for a few more days, but I have no doubt that her recovery will be speedy and she will feel healthier than ever, praise God.  God turned a terrible situation into a rewarding and humbling experience for my entire family and all of our friends who have been there in support and those who have taken the time to pray for her and us. Thanks again, from the very bottom of my heart!

Tea Party!

 

So here are the pictures I promised!! It was a fun afternoon and I was so happy with the way our table turned out. We had to nix a few ideas, but generally I think it was just as we had imagined.

We used burlap sacks that we cut as table runners, some of my craft jars (a few wrapped in twine) and some random flowers and other elements my sis in law had found. For the place mats we used 12x12 sheets of cork, available in the scrapbook paper section at Michael's, and made wooden coasters. We obviously used pears for place cards with a leaf tag and I made cupcake pops (bakerella) shaped like pears and stuck them in wheat grass.

and this is me and my mom :).

and most importantly, those that were able to share it with me were those that I could rely on the most (with the exception of Tasha & Ash who weren’t able to come because of more important obligations <3).

I can honestly say that my sister in law Jenn (ironic, eh?) is one of my very best friends. She is always there for me..but unfortunately I didn’t get a picture of us with my camera! dagnabbit.

 

on a slightly different note, this week has been stressful in many ways, with school and some other drama. It’s been hard, I’ve got to admit, but thank heavens I have a great husband and a God who hears us when we call.

He’s so great to us, we’re so blessed.

However next week we have a break from school before fall quarter and we move! I’m so excited (never thought I'd hear myself say that!), and I’m even more excited for autumn. My next post will probably consist of decoration inspiration (you know you’re excited too!), so keep checking in!
